Following several recent theoretical calculations that suggested DA white dwarfs should pulsate in radial modes, the author conducted a photometric search for these pulsations. The shortest periods examined were 0.1 s and the survey was sensitive to variations as small as ΔL/L = 5×10-4. None of the stars observed showed radial pulsations. If the author includes observations made in other surveys, 19 DA white dwarfs have now been examined for radial pulsations. The failure of any of these stars to pulsate suggests that modifications are required in either pulsation theory or the white dwarf models.
