The authors present further results from their continuing search for QSOs and related objects situated close to nearby galaxies for the purpose of finding background probes of the intervening interstellar media. To locate the probes they scan UKST objective prism plates for likely candidates and then take low-resolution slit spectra at SAAO for confirmation purposes. Here the authors present new data for 12 targets in four galaxy fields: nine are newly discovered QSOs with B magnitudes in the range 16.1 - 18.6, the remaining three are galaxies with Seyfert or emission-line spectra. They discuss briefly the apparent difference in the numbers of bright QSOs in the fields of the six different galaxies which they have surveyed in their programme up to now, and show that this difference is within the random fluctuations expected. To augment their list of probes the authors have also searched recent literature for published QSO-galaxy and AGN-galaxy groupings.
