UBV photometry in fields surrounding five long-period Cepheids in the southern Milky Way is reported. CT Car may be embedded in a rich association that is reddened by about 0.6. Alternatively, the suspected association members might be little-reddened foreground F-type stars. The present data show no evidence for any concentration of blue stars around UU Mus. Somewhat surprisingly, not a single B-type star is located in the low-absorption field surrounding VZ Pup. SV Vel is not located in an association. EZ Vel is not embedded in a major association that is young enough to contain O-B1 stars. The present observations of this field do not extend faint enough to detect an association containing only main-sequence stars with spectral types later than B1.
