The authors report very high signal-to-noise observations in the wavelength range where interstellar MgH and NaH absorption lines could be observed. They improve the detected equivalent width limit by a factor over 6 for NaH and 100 for MgH on the line of sight to ζ Oph. The new upper limit derived for the column density of MgH is below the one expected if grain formation processes are efficient.
