A search for emission in the 21 cm line of neutral hydrogen using the Very Large Area (VLA) has been made in a field selected through the spatial association of (1) a damped Ly(alpha) absorption-line system (zetaabs = 3.3900) observed in the spectrum of the background Quasi-Stellar Object (QSO) 0000-2619 (zetaem = 4.11) and (2) the detection of one or more faint galaxies at zeta approximately equals 3.4 within 2 arcmin along this sight line. No emission due to redshifted 21 cm was detected. Limits to the size of possible H I masses in the volume at zeta = 3.387 to 3.429 within 1 Mpc of the line of sight to the background QSO are 0.15 x 1014 solar mass (3 sigma) for velocity dispersion of 100 km/s and 0.5 x 1014 solar mass (3 sigma) for velocity dispersion of 1000 km/s. Due to the approximately 2 deg diameter field of view of the VLA primary beam at 323 MHz, a much larger volume of approximately 105 Mpc3 (H0 = 100 km/s/Mpc and Omega0 = 1.0) was surveyed by these observations at an average sensitivity of 0.2 x 1014 solar mass (5 sigma) for velocity dispersion of 100 km/s and 0.8 x 1014 solar mass (5 sigma) for velocity dispersion of 1000 km/s.
