A search has been conducted for the 8150-A emission line of interstellar H2 in Orion, in NGC 7027, and in the Rho Oph region, with negative results. In order that the results be consistent with the recently reported observations of H2 emission lines near 2 microns in Orion, the visual extinction must be greater than 10 mag for a 2500-K thermal-excitation model, or greater than 6-11 mag for a shock-excitation model. Finally, an ultraviolet-excitation model is introduced.
