The aim of this work is to study the relation between emission in the ground state of CH (around 9 cm) and visual extinction in some dark clouds selected for their large values of >Av<. Observations of CH were made with the Nançay radiotelescope (HPBW 2arcmin×10arcmin) at different positions in the dark cloud L134. Models of interstellar chemistry applied to dark clouds suggest the possible observation of a limb brightening effect which was not found here for directions where >Av< ⪆ 4.0 magnitudes. The projected density of CH derived in L134 (N(CH) ≡ 0.2 - 1.5×1014cm-2) is discussed in the light of model calculations.
