Results are reported for an unsuccessful search for the J 4-3 rotational transitions of CaO in the ground and first excited vibrational states toward a selected group of 32 objects. The rest frequencies of these transitions are approximately 106, 192 MHz (J 4-3, v 0) and 105,398 MHz (J 4-3, v 1). Conservative upper limits are placed on the CaO column densities in the sources observed. It is concluded that CaO is not strongly mased in the J 4-3 transition in either the v 0 or the v 1 state.
