We have used the "Δα" peculiarity index that measures the strength of the 5200 Å continuum depression, characteristic of the Ap stars, to observe a large number of normal and peculiar stars in the Scorpio-Centaurus association. We find that the Ap stars in Upper Scorpius are significantly less peculiar than the older Ap stars in the solar neighborhood. The same difference was previously reported in the Orion OB 1 association by Joncas and Borra (1981). We find that some helium-weak stars are detected by our photometry. Our observations confirm that metal enrichment takes place on time scales of a few 107 yr.
