The linear polarization in the H-alpha and H-beta lines in the flare of Sept. 15, 1981, is studied by a photographic method which enables instrumental polarization to be eliminated. Considerable values of the degree of polarization occur in the cores of the lines, at some points as much as 17 percent. However, an objective analysis of all the profiles indicates that the polarization in this flare cannot be demonstrated as the degree of polarization does not exceed, on the average, the inaccuracy of the photographic method used. A blue shift corresponding to the velocities -2.5 km/s and -1.3 km/s has been found in the cores of the H-alpha and H-beta lines, respectively. The blue shift changes into red at about the full width of the half maximum of the lines.
