Problems in the study of multiple systems of objects are reviewed, and a classification scheme for multiple star and galaxy systems is proposed. A statistical test method is used to account for uncertainties in observational data in order to determine the dynamical state of a star or galaxy system (stable or unstable). The method of simultaneously varying all the parameters observed within the limits of their errors is applied to obtain the dynamical states of eight triple stars.
