From a statistical analysis, it is found that most pulsars have degrees of linear polarization greater than 10%, and spectral indices less than -1. The different polarization and spectral properties between pulsars, radio quasars and compact steep spectrum sources are compared. Using as criteria for radio pulsar candidates, high polarization, high spectral index, high galactic latitude and low flux density at low frequencies, the authors picked out a rough sample of radio pulsar candidates from the recently released VLA and WSRT surveys. Considering that in parts of the sky high sensitivity pulsar surveys have been done, the authors take out all the candidates falling in those regions. The result is a list of 47 candidates arranged in order of degree of linear polarization.
