High-resolution observations are presented of several powerful extragalactic radio sources. They are members of a sample of sources, whose flux density (excluding any contribution from compact central components) exceeds 10 Jy at 178 MHz and whose luminosity exceeds 1028W Hz-1sr-1 at 178 MHz (emitted frequency), which were poorly resolved on previously published maps. Such a sample might be used as part of the systematic investigation of proper motion of components in VLBI jets, since it is free from any selection effects that might prejudice the outcome. The constraints that VLBI observations might place on simple models for the "superluminal velocities" are briefly discussed.
