The construction of an inexpensive, simple machine that demonstrates retrograde motion of inferior and superior planets is described. The motion is made visible by connecting two independently clock-motor driven balls, representing two planets, with a rod indicating the direction vector. The rod has a red and green LED on each end, respectively, to represent retrograde motion of either an inferior or superior planet. Some suggestions for student exercises are included.
