Observations of NGC1275 at 89.6 and 31.4 GHz (obtained from 1974 to 1982 with the 36-ft antenna at NRAO) and at 3-mm-wavelength (obtained with the 14-m antenna at Five College Radio Astronomy Observatory from 1979 to 1981) are reported and discussed in combination with earlier observations. A very rapid large-amplitude outburst is detected at mm wavelengths, with the 89.6-GHz flux density increasing from 42 Jy on Oct. 26, 1979, to 75 Jy on Mar. 13, 1980, and the 1-mm flux density increasing from 24 Jy on Jan. 11, 1979, to 64 Jy on Mar. 28, 1980. This outburst is delayed by 0.7 yr and limited to 20 Jy at 31.4 GHz. It is inferred from the rapid onset of the outburst and the short-time-scale fluctuations during its decay that the region in which the radiating particles are accelerated is less than 10 to the 17th cm in size, corresponding to a brightness temperature of about 10 to the 12th K.
