A preliminary map of the total sky brightness made at 1465 Mhz with the portable 5.5 m radiotelescope of the (GEM) Galactic Emission Mapping project is presented. The observations were taken in 1994 in the Northern Hemisphere at Bishop, CA, USA, and in the Southern Hemisphere in 1998 at Cachoeira Paulista, SP, Brazil. The resolution of the map is approximately 6 degrees with a sensitivity of nearly 20 mK. The GEM project is currently undertaking radio surveys of the Southern Sky from Brazil and is engaged in a collaborative effort with institutions in USA, Colombia, Italy and Spain to produce all-sky maps at 408 MHz, 1465 MHz, 2.3 GHz, 5 GHz and 10 GHz that will provide unique information on the spatial and spectral distribution of the synchrotron emission of our Galaxy.
