We present the results of a survey, of 16 edge-on galaxies, in search for discrete disk-halo features (i.e. spurs) and/or extended radio continuum emission (halos). In addition to 20 cm VLA data, 6 cm VLA data of comparable resolution were acquired for 5 of the galaxies. The spectral index for these objects shows that the radio emission is due to synchrotron radiation. The full survey suggests that, independent of the global star formation rate, all galaxies (except one) show evidence for high latitude radio emission either beyond the projection of the optical disk or beyond a smoothed thin disk model. Thus energy is being exchanged between the galaxies' disks and their halos. CRs originate in star forming regions which reside in disks. However mechanisms other than starbursts, for example disk instabilities caused by galaxy-galaxy interactions, may also play an important role in transporting the CRs to high latitudes.
