The two telescopes being constructed for Spacelab 2 to observe the emission from galaxy clusters at energies from 2.5 to 25 keV are described. The detectors are filled with Xe-CH4 gas having a pressure of 1.5 atm. They possess a window area of 32 sq cm and a resolution of better than 1 mm. The masks have a cycle size of 32 cm, and by using 2 cycles of the pattern in each direction, it is ensured that the shadow of a complete cycle is always present on the counter window. The separation of the mask and detector is 3 m. If no other measure were taken to restrict the response of the detectors, the position of any source would be ambiguous in multiples of 6.4 deg, this being the angular size of the mask pattern as seen from the detector. These ambiguities are eliminated by an egg-crate collimator at the detector, with a response of 3.2 deg FWHM. The collimator is also used to support the thin plastic window of the detector.
