Spectrophotometry: Calibration

Scientific paper

The conversion of spectrophotometric scans for stars to absolute flux distributions requires not only the inclusion of spectrophotometric standard stars in the observational programme and the absolute flux from a star of known magnitude at a standard wavelength, but also photometric magnitudes for scaling the distributions. Narrow band "monochromatic" magnitudes are desirable for this purpose and, to meet this need, an observational programme with a photometer designed to measure magnitudes with a 3 nm bandwidth centred at 550 nm is planned.
