The study considers both the dynamical and photometric methods of analyzing the fireball behavior and initial mass of large meteoroids via their observed properties in the atmosphere. Two fundamental approximations are utilized, namely, that the single-body simple ablation theory results are applicable and that the ratios of the various efficiencies to one another are constant and known. With these restrictions, the luminous efficiency is calculated directly via a totally macroscopic approach.
