The possibility of internal gravity wave generation by turbulent velocity pulsations near the turbopause is examined, as are the conditions under which the waves can reach the upper ionospheric layers. An expression is obtained for the vertical energy flux component. It is shown that under strong wind shear in the turbopause region, the presence of semitransparent sporadic E layers may be associated with the generation of medium-scale traveling disturbances.
