It is proposed that the two main items from the Hipparcos project be used in a typical satellite-geodesy mission. These items are the catalog of 100,000 stars and the main hardware device of the project, i.e., the grid measuring directions along the scanning circle at the level of a few milliarcsec. The idea is to use this instrument together with range or range rate measurements in a satellite-to-satellite tracking experiment betwen two identical satellites following each other along the same very low orbit.
