The extended radio source G 127.3+0.7 coincides in position with the
open cluster NGC 559. The source may be a supernova remnant which is
physically associated with the cluster. An improved estimate of the
distance to the cluster might make the supernova remnant a useful
calibrator of the surface-brightness - diameter relation.
