The paper presents a supernova explosion scenario in which the main role belongs to the effects of the rotation of the initial stellar core, while the gravitational collapse develops in two stages. The first stage, which leads to the formation of a rotating preneutron star, was previously studied by mathematical simulation. The second stage, which commences with the fragmentation of the preneutron star, results in the formation of a close binary star system, the parameters of which are determined by the conservation law of the total mass and angular momentum. The subsequent evolution of the close binary system is determined by gravitational radiation, binary component convergence, the loss of mass from the low-mass component, and explosion with an energy release of about 10 exp 51 ergs, when the mass reaches a value of 0.1 solar mass. All the stages of this evolution are explained by estimates which do not contradict the SN 1987A explosion data.
