Sun-Radio Bursts-Quasi-Periodic Oscillation

Scientific paper

Using the data of the double quasi-periodic pulsation in the solar radio burst observed simultaneously by Nanjing University and Beijing Normal University with time resolutions of 1s and 10ms at 9.375 and 15 GHz, respectively, on 1990 May 23, at 0400-0451, along with the data of the associated phenomena in radio, optical and soft X-ray published in S.G.D., we propose a model of oscillation of Alfvén and fast magneto-acoustic waves, triggered by interaction between nonthermal (microwave burst) and thermal (soft X-ray flare) processes in a flare loop, to account for the observed pulsation. As a by-product, average values of the physical quantities T, N, B of the burst source region are calculated.
