Short period anomalies in astronomical time and latitude residuals sometimes appeared simultaneously and/or separately before major earthquakes which occurred in the vicinity of site where astronomical time and latitude observations were made with classical instruments. This article summarizes our results, and suggests that the anomalies could be caused by some vertical changes due to the motion of the underground mass.
