Various distinctive features of the intricate structure observed in the
galaxy NGC 2685 may have been caused by an explosion in its central
region. The time elapsed since the explosion, its energy, and the
density of the medium surrounding the galaxy are estimated from Sedov's
theory of a point adiabatic explosion.
