Scientific paper
Results are presented on photometric and radial velocity observations (carried out at the Beijing Observatory) of the short-period eclipsing binary CG Vir. The CG Vir is shown to have several features in common with the Algol stars, including the fact that the light curve of CG Vir is of type EA. However, some of the CG Vir's properties indicate that, as a detached binary, it is different from semidetached systems, inclulding the Algol binaries. It is suggested that CG Vir may have left the Algol phase relatively recently.
