We present new photometric (in V-band) and spectroscopic observations of NGC 5953/54, a tight pair of interacting galaxies. The standard photometric and kinematical parameters of the galaxies are determined. It is shown that NGC 5953 exhibits a relatively bright and compact bulge. Exponential disks of the galaxies are also brighter and more compact with respect to the average disks of normal galaxies with the same morphological types. Comparison of our derived systemic velocity for NGC 5954 with the published data shows a considerable discrepancy, which could be explained by asymmetry of the emitting gas in the galaxy. The rotation curves for the central parts of the galaxies are presented. It is shown that the velocity fields show evidences for systematic deviations from the purely axisymmetric rotation.
