The UBV photometry of the early-type contact binary BR Muscae is analyzed by means of the differential correction method of Wilson and Devinney. The best solutions found correspond to mass-ratio values close to unity. The remaining parameters are well defined and practically independent of the mass-ratio. A percentage of overcontact of about 11 percent is found. BR Muscae appears to be very close to the zero-age main sequence. It has similar characteristics to some of the well known early-type systems like BH Cen, AW Lac, and V701 Sco. General considerations on the hot contact binaries are presented and discussed.
