A photoelectric search for Ap-stars in the rather old open clusters NGC 2516 and NGC 1662 was undertaken using the photoelectric peculiarity index proposed by Maitzen (1976). This index allows not only the identification of even weak Ap stars, but also a quantitative description of the peculiarity, which can be related to the age of the cluster stars. The outstanding NGC 2516 shows a large range of peculiarity degrees among its Ap-members. All existing spectroscopically found Ap stars were also recognized by this photoelectric technique. Three additional mild peculiar Ap stars were found, but need confirmation by subsequent observations. Variability search for 3 stars in NGC 2516 resulted in constant light for the object Cox 15 (a suspected Ap eclipsing binary) and small amplitudes for Cox 26 and Cox c.
