The paper describes the design and operation of a template instrument which enables the radial velocity of the moon to be determined from its parallax and phase with an rms error of 1 m/s. The procedure for using this instrument is outlined, its scale is defined, and ways to reduce errors to the specified value are discussed. Radial velocities determined with the present template are employed to compute the hourly motion of the lunar parallax as a function of that parallax for the four primary and four intermediate phases of the moon.
