The first results of a numerical study of the acceleration of particles
near a plane shock are presented. It is shown that up to 25 percent of
the incoming momentum flux can be converted into pressure of accelerated
particles near the shock. The momentum distribution of the accelerated
particles becomes harder at high energy.
