We present a 2D slab symmetric simulation of a jet from a young stellar object (YSO) with conditions chosen, as far as possible, to match those deduced by observation of the Herbig-Haro (HH) 46/47 system. The code used is a new, temporally and spatially second-order accurate, non-adiabatic, purely hydrodynamical one. Energy losses through atomic and H2 transitions, ionisation, and H2 dissociation are included. The predicted line profiles, intensity maps, and total luminosity of various lines of observational interest are presented. These are compared with observations of the HH46/47 system and are found to agree well.
