We adopt a modified parallel shooting method, that is, a continuous orthonormalization that avoids the difficulties of the original parallel shooting method, the proper choice for mesh size for different modes and the non-availability of a cost-effective way of improving the computed eigenfrequencies beyond a certain threshold. Using the modified method we calculated some low-order and low-degree solar p-mode and g-mode eigenfrequencies for the standard solar model and agreement with the observation at the 1% level was achieved.
