The observational history of Nova Cassiopeiae 1993 is presented. An early spectrum of Nova Cassiopeiae 1993 taken by the International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) satellite shows very little emission at wavelengths shorter than 1700 angstroms; however, later spectra indicated that this gradually increased over time. The only other nova studied this early in outburst by IUE, Nova Cygni 1992, displayed an early and rapid decrease in its ultraviolet emission. A brief discussion of the optical spectrum of Nova Cassiopeiae 1993 and its optical light curve is presented.
