In this paper, we obtain some sufficient conditions for a 3-dimensional
compact trans-Sasakian manifold of type $(\alpha ,\beta)$ to be homothetic to a
Sasakian manifold. A characterization of a 3-dimensional cosymplectic manifold
is also obtained.
