Recent data on the geometrical and dynamical flattening of Uranus and Neptune are examined with respect to recent determinations of the rotational periods of the two planets. It is shown that several combinations of measured rotational periods, polar flattenings, and J2 coefficients in the spherical harmonic expansion of the gravitational potential are physically implausible. Future observations, especially with instruments carried above the atmosphere, are recommended.
