Universe: Expansion

Scientific paper

The solutions given by Tauber (1967), based on conformally flat space-time, of Einstein's field equations for the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker, closed topology, dust model are corrected. The corrected solutions are shown to reduce to the standard textbook solutions obtained directly in Friedmann-Robertson-Walker coordinates, with the parameter identified as a component of the transformation to conformally flat space-time coordinates. The general significance of Tauber's work and its relationship to more recent papers by Endean (1997) on this subject are discussed.
