We consider the uniqueness in the inverse scattering problem for the equation
$$ u'' + \frac{k^2}{c^2}=0, $$ on $\R$, where $c$ is a real measurable function
with $c(x)\ge c_m> 0$, $|c(x)-1|\le C< x>^{-1-\delta}$ and $c'\in L^2(\R) \cap
L^1(\R)$.
