Observations of oscillations of Ap stars show frequencies above the acoustic cut-off frequency in the atmosphere. Time-series analysis reveals several discrete eigenfrequencies to be present in the observational data and not a continuum of modes of different frequencies. Theoretically a discrete eigenspectrum can exist also for frequencies above the cut-off frequencies. Numerical calculations are presented demonstrating the discreteness of the eigensolutions and the development of the damping rate due to wave leakage at the surface of the star.
