A method of calculating the Keplerian elements of the orbits of
artificial earth satellites from five positions (alpha-k, delta-k, s-k,
k = 0, 1, ..., 4) is discussed. A distinctive feature of the proposed
method is the absence from the working equations of series expanded in
powers of time.
