An approach based on the Hamiltonian formulation of general relativity is used to derive a nonsingular cosmological model. The model derived is the 'dust-filled' Bianchi I universe quantized following the method of Arnowitt, Deser, and Misner (1962) and employing Lund's (1973) choice of time coordinate. It is concluded that for a dust-filled Bianchi I model, the classical singularity is avoided due to the presence of quantum gravitational effects and that the nonsingular nature of this model may be due to the fact that the quantum gravitational fluctuations do not allow the model to be sufficiently localized
