The spectral classification of stars is considered, with emphasis on the MK Process, a generalization of the MK System concept. It is noted that the MK Process, unlike the MK System, is applicable for objects of any kind, in any spectral region, with any resolution. The MK Process involves the use of classification systems which are based on the particular observed characteristics of stellar spectra. These systems are completely autonomous and they need not be similar to the MK one.
