A classification of galaxies with a regular spiral structure (grand design) based on the properties of their central regions, where a bar (barotropic mode) may develop, is considered. Along with the usual mechanism of bar mode excitation, associated with rapid rotation, another possibility for bar formation occurs when a large enough percentage of the stars have radially elongated orbits. Roughly speaking, the two mechanisms are complementary: a new bar mode is excited in disks rotating on the average slower than disks with the usual bar instability. Characteristics for classification of spiral galaxy disks should include mean rotational velocity (in units of circular velocity) and a parameter defining the predominant orbit type in the central region.
