The possibility of formation of "precessional" spiral waves in binaries
with large mass ratios can be used to interpret observations of these
systems. There is no other reasonable explanation for the appearance of
superhumps at large mass ratios, so applications of the "precessional"
spiral wave model to binary systems like TV Col looks very promising.
