It is reported that a new transient X-ray source, KS 1947 + 300, was discovered through observations of the GS 2023 + 338 field. The observations took place on June 8, 1989. The average flux in the 2 - 27 keV band was equal to 70 + or - 10 mCrab at that time. Thereafter the flux from the source decreased and, by August 19, the upper limit (3 sigma) of the flux measured 10 mCrab.
