A new transient X-ray burster, KS (Kvant Source) 1731-260, was discovered by the TTM instrument on the Kvant X-ray observatory during observations of the GX 1 + 4 field on August 16, 1989. The persistent flux in the 2-27 keV band from this source varied from 50 to 100 mCrab. Several bursts with durations of 10-20 sec and a peak flux up to 0.6 Crab were detected in the period from August 16 to 31.
