Scientific paper

We show that combining observations of ultraviolet source variability by
the NASA Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) satellite with color
selections from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) is an effective tool
for identifying RR Lyrae stars. The method is used here to identify 11
previously unknown RR Lyrae stars, in the absence of light curves.
