The study describes a survey for low-luminosity emission-line galaxies in which deep CD images have been obtained through five narrow-band filters. The survey covers 0.7 sq deg to a depth corresponding to a monochromatic magnitude of 21.2 in the emission line plus continuum. A total of 293 emission-line galaxy candidates were selected on the basis of a (line plus continuum) ratio of 1.5 or greater. Eleven low-redshift (z less than 0.054) emission-line galaxies were confirmed with moderate-to-strong H-alpha emission and M(B) in the range of -17.8 to -12.9. No ultralow-metal-abundance galaxies were found. Characteristics of high- and low-redshift emission-line galaxies are presented in tabular form.
